2013 Yarn & Fiber Colors – Weeks 18-19

Aloha!

This post will be dedicated to socks – my personal favorite knitting project.

Last Fall KnitPicks.com asked if I would be interested in having them sell one of my sock patterns as part of a kit for their May 2013 catalog. I was completely floored they would ask so of course I said, Heck Yes!

The catalog and kit was released last week. Here are some photos from their site.

This was on the kits & sampler page:

Very exciting! The funny part is that I always wanted to own a pair of these socks but never got around to making one! Perhaps I should think about it now. My most favorite color combination is one my Aunt Tina choose for her mom, in purple and black:

HAWAIIANTATTOOSOCKS_PUR_02

I’ve also been trying to find a little time for some pattern testing. Here’s a work-in-progress colorwork pattern using 3 fingering weight yarns. I hand-dyed the main blue/green variegated yarn, while the light green is KP’s Stroll Tonal in Springtime and regular undyed yarn for the white. This is ATRIUM FLOOR SOCKS, inspired by the 3-toned floor pattern on the upcoming Princess Cruiselines ship, the Royal Princess – due to launch in June 2013.

ATRIUMFLOORSOCKS_02

ATRIUMFLOORSOCKS_01 I still have to finish the second sock and this pair will be mine!

Here is a screen grab of the atrium (computer graphics model) with a view of the floor. You can find the entire video here.

DESIREE DIAMOND SOCKS is a pattern I created with simple bead work in mind. Every diamond on the front of the socks has a center glass bead, while the foot and the back of the leg have a solid-outline-solid 3-diamond pattern. These socks were inspired by my childhood best friend, Desiree, who I met at afternoon day care at age 8 and remains to this day, one of my beloved and dearest friends.

CL2

Our amazing creative team of artists designed this environment and these creatures including the Wild Scallions, Cantalope, Wildebeets, Bananostrich, Hippotatomus, Fruit Cockateil and Watermelophants. Looking at all these food creatures everyday does make us hungry, so we tend to eat a lot (and often!) at work. Luckily I love to eat 🙂 More on Cloudy 2 as we get closer to release, which is set for September 27, 2013.

Been a busy month but quite exciting. I’ve been able to do more knitting than spinning and some dyeing in between but nearly as much as I would like, of course. Here are the colors for weeks 37 to 41.

I’ll start with some socks that I’ve completed. I’m hoping to submit a couple of these to KP’s Independent pattern program once I get the time to type up a submission!

This pair is LouisVuitton-Inspired socks in light & dark blue. The yarn is KP’s Gloss (merino/silk) in Dusk and Dolphin and I made one sock using Dusk as the main, and the other using Dolphin – just to show the contrast:

This pair is Crazy Crazy Eights in KP’s Chroma in Sunrise and Palette in Cayenne:

These are my Smocked Socks that I’m still testing the pattern – in KP Stroll in Mermaid and Imagination in Pixie Dust:

And onto yarn & fiber.

2012 Yarn & Fiber Colors – Weeks 1 & 2

Aloha! Of course, I’m already late in posting the colors for the 1st two weeks of the year – LOL! BUT, I did manage to dye up 20 pieces this past weekend so there will be more to see in the next few weeks.

I’ve decided to try to dye up 1 yarn skein and 1 roving for each colorway since there are so many colorways that I do only one or the other, so let’s see how I do.

This is DIAMOND HEAD SUNSET in merino/cashmere/nylon yarn

and merino/bamboo/nylon roving:

and the inspirational photo taken at a beach park in Diamond Head

DA KINE in superwash merino/nylon yarn

I also did a small sample of Da Kine in merino/tencel roving which I have to post, so I’ll add that later.

WAIMANALO FLOWERS in superwash merino yarn

and merino/tencel roving

And a few new pair of socks – 2 of which that were knitted on Oahu.

and lastly, TRIPLE CABLE SOCKS in red/pink, knitted on Oahu:

Colorwork Socks for Fall 2011 – Take 2

Today was another milestone for us at work so I’ve been busy racing towards that goal these past few weeks. But as stressful as life can get I seem to always find time for a bit of knitting. Thank goodness it’s a stress-reliever! I managed to complete two pairs this past weekend which I started about a month or so ago so it’s take a little while to get them done. Both are on the shoppe now.

SMOCKED SOCKS in Teal

and CHUTES and LADDERS SOCKS in mauve/purple

The second pair is made with yarn that I hand-dyed a pretty pink, then overdyed with a diluted black to get a purple/mauve color with pink pops.  I recently casted on two more socks so I’ll post them once they are farther along. Enjoy!

Knitting

Colorwork Socks for Fall 2011

Along with dyeing, I’ve spent much of the summer knitting up socks for the shoppe. All of these are my own design with variations here and there. I just love putting colors together and seeing how they knit up. Here are a few I’ve completed.

SHAMROCK SOCKS

HAWAIIAN TATTOO SOCKS – Teal

SMOCKED SOCKS – Brown/Orange

DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH – Blue

POINT THE WAY SOCKS – Green

I’ve got a couple more on my needles and other color combo’s waiting in the wings. I just need a few more hours in each day . . . 🙂
