For a black-and-white photography class, the assignment was to capture an image, then take it into the dark room and do a sepia tone version. I absolutely love Photoshop and all it’s convenience, but there was something tangible and rewarding with rolling up your filmstock in the dark and bathing it in solution . . .
I just so happen to be visiting Oahu during the week of this assignment and caught this lobster tail – which had already been shed – on a beach on the North Shore. The detail is amazing and I love the contrast in the rocky sand. After drying the sepia image, I mounted it on a brown background. This is a scan of the original image and mounting.
