Since it’s nearing spring, I thought I’d post a few of my favorite butterfly pictures. In 2006 we went on a Caribbean cruise that stopped at the island of St. Martin. St. Martin is interesting in that it is divided in half and owned by 2 separate nations – France and Holland. To call a friend on the other side of the island meant you were calling long distance! The butterfly farm was on the French side and the butterflies were just beautiful. The pattern on the bottom butterfly was to imitate a large eye so a predator might think this butterfly was a large creature rather than a small insect. Cool.

Thanks! I love close-ups too! Luckily these butterflies stayed still long enough for me to snap a photo 🙂
